The GirlHood Project · North Carolina
Growing up should come with guidance.
A nonprofit dedicated to equipping girls ages 8–16 in underserved communities with practical education, resources, and confidence to care for themselves.
Our mission
Knowledge, resources, and confidence.
The GirlHood Project empowers girls ages 8–16 in underserved communities across North Carolina with the knowledge, resources, and confidence to care for themselves.
Through age-appropriate education, community partnerships, mentorship, and access to personal-care essentials, we teach healthy habits surrounding hygiene, skincare, haircare, nail care, and self-care while helping girls navigate growing into womanhood and the influence of social media and beauty trends.
Every girl deserves access to the information and resources she needs to grow up feeling informed, confident, and cared for.
Our purpose
Close the gap between questions and reliable answers.
Growing up comes with thousands of questions about our bodies, appearance, hygiene, and self-care—but not every girl has access to someone who can answer those questions safely and without judgment, or the resources to put good information into practice.
The GirlHood Project exists to close that gap.
We create welcoming spaces where girls can learn practical, age-appropriate personal-care habits, ask questions, discover reliable information, and receive the resources they need.
