About The GirlHood Project
Growing up comes with questions. Girls deserve good answers.
We help girls ages 8–16 build practical personal-care habits, confidence, and critical thinking in welcoming, judgment-free spaces.
Our purpose
Not about looking a certain way.
Our goal is not to teach girls to look a certain way. Our goal is to help them understand their bodies, make informed choices, build healthy habits, and develop confidence as they grow.
We teach girls how to take care of their bodies, recognize healthy versus unhealthy beauty trends, establish age-appropriate hygiene routines, understand basic skincare, care for different hair types and textures, care for their nails safely, evaluate products and marketing, and know when a concern requires a trusted adult or healthcare professional.
We also teach something simple but important: girls do not need 15 products to take care of themselves, and social media is not necessarily teaching them what is healthy.
Core values
What guides our work.
Education
Accurate, age-appropriate information girls can actually use.
Confidence
Confidence without tying a girl's worth to appearance.
Accessibility
Basic personal care should not depend on a family's income.
Safety
Safe, evidence-informed practices and responsible product education.
Inclusivity
Different skin tones, hair textures, cultures, abilities, and backgrounds deserve representation.
Community
Girls thrive when families, schools, mentors, professionals, and communities work together.
